Describe a famous person/celebrity in your country
My favorite pop star, Jay Chou, who is not only a famous singer but also a successful entrepreneur , is very popular in my country. It seems that every individual from all age groups have heard of him. If my memory serves me correctly, he has about 100 million fans in China.
I first knew him because of his rap songs, called Nunchucks. The beat and lyrics of this song impressed me a lot ,refreshing my previous thought on Chinese music. After listening to more of his songs , I started to be come his loyal fan.
Before known by the public, Jay Chou had a hard life for many years . During that time, he lived in the cheapest accommodation possible. He worked as a song writer for a big music production company. However, no singers were willing to sing his songs as his lyris were considered to be weird.
Later, he started to sing his these songs and made a debut album. The debut album was defnitely a hit as the songs were extremely unique and creative. Jay Chou soon became the most popular singer in China.
Jay Chou is important as he created a new style of music, disrupting the then Chinese music industry. His songs can be heard everywhere in China and many young singers are still trying to immitate his style.
